FELICITAS: In ancient Roman culture, felicitas (from the Latin adjective felix, "fruitful, blessed, happy, lucky") is a condition of divinely inspired productivity, blessedness, or happiness.
In fiscal year 2019 (ending June 30, 2019) Chamisa led successful proposal development efforts for the third largest nonprofit health system in the nation, resulting in the successful acquisition of over $14M in grant funding from federal, state, and private funding sources including the National Cancer Institute, State of Texas Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and other private foundations. Proposals developed supported a variety of programs and initiatives in multiple states, including cancer treatment and clinical trials research, rural telehealth, Advanced Practice Nurse education, human trafficking prevention and response, early childhood development, addressing social determinants of health in primary care settings, rural dental clinic services and screening for and addressing adverse childhood events in new parents.
A passionate advocate for improving the lives of the most vulnerable among us, Chamisa has honed expertise and experience in complex grant development and management, funding strategy development, program development, project management, staff management, and non-profit leadership.
During her 12+ years of executive-level experience in strategic leadership in grant development and management, she has led nonprofit organization and program teams in the creation of grant-funding strategies and proposals for national-level, multi-site initiatives, and has developed lasting relationships with private, corporate, and government grantors. In addition, she has provided training and technical assistance to nonprofit organization staff at all levels of experience.
Chamisa is originally from Albuquerque, NM, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Mexico. She later went on to earn her Master of Public Administration (MPA), with honors, from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She has held a Certified Fund Raising (CFRE) credential since 2016, and currently serves on the board of directors for Alpine Autism Center located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Kelly K. Cummings, PhD, brings 20 years’ of research experience to our grant development support platform. Her prospect research and proposal development experience has resulted in the acquisition of multi-million-dollar grants awards for programs and organizations in health care and education.
Kelly won a Fulbright scholarship and earned her PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Kansas. She is an active member of the American Prospect Research Association (APRA) and numerous academic associations and is currently working toward her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certifications.
Kelly’s academic background has engendered her with a collateral familiarity with interdisciplinary subjects in intellectual history, language pedagogy, and the medical Humanities and written and editorial dexterity.
Kelly’s credentials and professional experience position her to collaborate with organizations with various missions to organize a unique formula—the who, why, what, and when of your development goal. She is an expert in identifying both individual and grant prospects to fit any organization’s unique story, to include full service or technical support in the writing of winning proposals and case statements.
Beyond her work with Felicitas Consulting LLC, she is committed to making learning and employment opportunities available to all through education and college and career readiness mentorship. She instructs English Language Acquisition, GED, and Adult Basic Education classes; tutors literacy skills; facilitates differentiated learning; and empowers veterans, their dependents, and youth with disabilities to achieve success through unconventional pathways.
Kelly resides in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband Devin and wheaten terrier Oscar. When not working with organizations to help find funding for their missions, she enjoys coffee, libraries, and laughter in the classroom!
